About Emme

Most of you may know me as Emme, the supermodel, television personality, author, lecturer, creative director for her clothing lines, and nationally recognized women’s advocate for 20 years, on positive body image and self esteem has a clear mission: To awaken the inner magnificence inherent in each of us. While others within my personal life know me as a soccer and basketball Mom, carpooling gaggles of kids over the years with a crazy and unexplainable job that takes me away to cool locations and in front of TV over the last couple of decades talking about women, girls and our bodies! When I look at some of the accomplishments along the way, I scratch my head and say, “Did all of this really happen?”

What I do know, there are a whole lot of people around me including my family (thank God for family), friends (thank God again for friends) and a whole lot of professionals that know so much more about building a brand, patience and timing….

I’ve been on some incredible platforms speaking about lifestyle issues including fashion, attaining fitness and health, surviving cancer, mothering, embracing one’s body+mind+spirit, and how to adopt a more sustainable lifestyle on The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Dr. Oz Show, ABC’s Good Morning America, NBC’s Today Show, CBS’s The Early Show, CNN’s American Morning, 20/20, The Rachel Ray Show, CNN Headline News’s Showbiz Tonight, Entertainment Tonight, OMG Insider, NPR and many more.

Impressive, right? I must admit, I was one busy woman for a few years there and again could not have done what I did (see full bio below) without those on my team who helped me get there! But as with all of us, there’s more to the story. Let me pull back the curtain and bring you up to speed.

By 2010, I had survived cancer, went through a divorce, became a single mother, hung in there with the rest of us during 2008′s sock in the stomach causing my own roller coaster of “failures”, false starts and crippling doubt if I could continue my passionate career as a motivating force in the women’s empowerment movement or to leave the entrepreneur’s life and find a more traditional form of employment. On top of everything, I had a new found debt that suddenly millions of us were presented with, and began working hard to get out from under.

In all, despite whatever life presented me, I was beginning to see how much I needed to let go of the outcome, step aside and be present with what was before me. I needed to learn to embrace a quality driven body + mind + spiritually connected life no matter what fell on my plate. Calling me to practice, not perfection to lean on the positive and work like hell to not let fear get the best of me, in any situation. I am a work in progress, and as I just mentioned, practice not perfection is where I lay my focus and action, every day. Sometimes successfully and other days no so…but forward I keep trying.

Enter EmmeNation V2, 2014. I along with the women (*) in the EmmeNation community are committed to practicing a life that connects our body+mind+spirit as often as we can, not one without the other two. Taking a concerted effort to slowing down, numerous daily reminders, and being willing to start over again and again to keep the three in tune and aligned. To joining together and sharing our journey together. Refusing not to be a ship without a sail or a lone warrior with out a posse. Above all women who are willing to let go of the burden of the world on their shoulders. Women learning to not only to forgive others but ourselves first and allowing others to be who they are without our need to control or make others happy. Realizing our job is an inside one, and to let others go do the same, if they choose to. To learning how to embrace our perceived imperfections and when faced with fear, to not run back to the familiar place of complacency or inaction. To being who we uniquely are and not something we’re not. (Check out our newest WHOLE YOU Adventure EmmeCruise for May 2014.)

By being open to the present moment and openly embracing my own unique self, new opportunities seem to be presenting themselves in a variety of packages, allowing me to fill my passion around women’s and children’s body image, self esteem and issues around our over sexualized world we live in today. Whether it’s communicating via TV, radio, blogs, podcasts, magazines, social media vehicles, clothing lines I remind myself, an alignment is in place and to remain open. As I surround myself with positive and like minded people with varied skill sets and diverse backgrounds, miraculous opportunities presents themselves and keeps me humbled.

The practice: not to take anything personally, do my best, try not to make assumptions, and be impeccable with my word. Thank you Don Miguel Ruiz for what I know will take me a lifetime to clearly understand and implement in my day to day.

Again we are all working on it, all. Remembering to practice, practice, practice for the rest will come, in “it’s” own time. Patience and practice - not perfection.

As many of you know about me, I really love fashion and have plans to get back “into the game” in a meaningful way.
