If you were like me, I know you hugged your kids extra tightly this holiday season and continue to give that extra smile, touch, loving gesture. Not much matters when the fragility of life can in one moment be taken away as it did for the families in Newtown, CT.
Last week, I had the unique opportunity to share an evening with individuals and families from this devastated town. Its safe to say, immediately I made new friends and what I profoundly observed were dear sweet, mothers, fathers, sisters, grandparents and friends struggling to take steps toward healing, looking forward, trying to make the unnecessary loss of life be more about where good and change can blossom from these horrific acts than anything else.
To posses a tenth of the courage and bravery to embrace the the world that has stepped into their private lives while at the same time trying to organize and initiate change for something good to come of this life changing tragedy - something more sustaining for our future and the future of our children, was and still is breathtaking to witness.
Beyond this, these grieving individuals are showing the incredible power of grace. It’s almost too much to comprehend that such a positive personal outlook could exist amidst the obvious pain in their hearts.
We send our love to you dear friends of Newtown, your loss has left an indelible memory in our hearts. Know we join you in the hope for change and better things to come. We support you.
