Summer Fashion Breakdown: Older & Wiser

This week’s Summer Fashion Breakdown is almost coming to an end. We really hope you got the best trendy news out of us, and that you’re ready to rock out it out this season! But before you go ahead and start filling up your shopping bags, make sure you remember these final notes. With the help from Emme’s very own written work, “Life’s Little Emergencies“, you will definitely become the wisest fashionable shopper ever!

“Make sure the clothes you wear fit you properly”. Don’t be hesitant about purchasing clothes that you think you will be able to fit into. If you think so, then you know you will have to buy a size bigger. Sizes are just numbers; they do not make you look bad at all. Don’t forget to make alterations if you have to, just know what your body size is, and be proud of it! (Look to Page 60-65 from “Life’s Little Emergencies” and get tips on how to dress for your body shape!)

“Know what colors work or don’t work with your skin color”.
Experiment with different kinds of colors and styles that work or not. That’s the whole fun of shopping anyway, isn’t it? Once you know and get the hang of what you look good in and what you don’t, you will be shopping a lot more easily and feeling extremely great about yourself as well.

“Do yourself a favor and get fitted for a bra in a department store”.
One fashion emergency that many women tend not to notice is that they are not wearing the correct bra size! It only takes a few minutes at the store and you will feel and look like a different person!

“Get your hair cut and styled, and if you color it, make sure you stick to your color schedule”. The first thing that women think of when wanting to have a fresh makeover is changing their hairstyle. A stylish haircut not only makes you feel exotic, but also adds on a magical touch of looking younger and fresher.

“The little black dress deserves a section all its own, it has such power, such class”. Every woman should own a little black dress (LBD). It is perfect for any occasion, depending on how you wear it. For example, for a girl’s night out you will style your LBD with fabulous accessories and heels. For a stroll down the street, you can wear your LBD with a casual cardigan and ankle boots. Trust us, the little black dress will do you justice!

One of my personal favorite quotes is “Doing what you like is freedom, liking what you do is happiness”. Of course I related that to fashion = freedom and happiness. We are free to dress however and whatever we want. But no matter how pretty something looks, it won’t make you happy if you’re not comfortable with your body when wearing it. Despite what the magazines or stylists say, YOU are the trend. As we’re getting older, we become more insecure and indifferent to our own bodies. Just remember those tips we talked about above, be comfortable with how you look, and BE the trend!
